Santana heads back to Hawaii for Oahu, Maui shows
Hitmaker and classic-rock guitar hero Carlos Santana and his band will return to the Blaisdell Arena for a concert April 30.
Tickets for the arena show, $59, $79, $99 and $149, go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Blaisdell Box Office, ticketmaster.com, 800-745-3000 and all Ticketmaster outlets.
This will be Santana’s third arena date in Honolulu over four years; concerts in 2013 and last year both sold out. Santana’s Honolulu concerts in 2013 were his first in 15 years.
Santana scored a massive hit with “Evil Ways” in 1969, and has continued to send albums into the Billboard Top 10 album charts in each decade since. He continued the streak in 2010 with “Guitar Heaven: The Greatest Guitar Classics of All Time” and tripled up on that performance with 2014 album “Corazon” and 2016 release “Santana IV,” an album recorded with five early band members, reunited.
His current touring band includes former Honolulu resident and McKinley High grad Benny Rietveld, the band’s bassist, and wife Cindy Blackman-Santana, drummer.
Santana also plays the Maui Arts & Cultural Center May 2; tickets, $65-$129, go on sale to MACC members at 10 a.m. Saturday, and to the public at 10 a.m. March 11 at the MACC box office, mauiarts.org or 808-242-7469.
