Maui’s Simeon eliminated from ‘Top Chef’
Maui chef and restaurateur Sheldon Simeon was eliminated from the “Top Chef” cooking competition on Bravo TV during Thursday’s episode.
Simeon said his future will involve opening a new, 80-seat restaurant in Wailea by the end of the year, in an interview on the Bravo TV blog. He also will work to expand his casual dining concept Tin Roof, to other locations in Hawaii and perhaps outside the state, he said.
Sheldon is currently in New York City, where he cooked at the James Beard House with previous Top Chef contestants including Carla Hall and Silvia Barban, as well as James Beard Award-winning chefs April Bloomfield and Tony Maws.
Simeon also is the host for the second, Hawaii-focused season of “Cooking in America,” an online show that can be seen on YouTube. 808ne.ws/sheldonshow
