Malfunctioning siren sounds again in Camp Smith
For the second night in a row, a malfunctioning emergency siren system has sounded in the Camp Smith area at Halawa, prompting residents to complain to the Honolulu Department of Emergency Management.
Department spokesman John Cummings said he received a call a little after 8:35 p.m. Tuesday about the sirens.
Cummings said he was told a contractor was on the way to shut off the siren system.
The siren system is at the Marine Corps Base at Camp Smith, where a malfunctioning siren system sounded at about midnight Monday.
Cummings said the sirens at 120 decibels can be heard three to five miles.
He said he didn’t know what was causing the problem.

Dude shut up
I’m still waiting for you to write a semi-intelligent comment. Not sure if it’ll ever happen.
Pot calling kettle black?
You wouldn’t know a pot if it hit you over the head.
Just unplug da buggah till they figure it out.
I second the Geckos. they are so juicy they easily short out anything.
So this thing went off for an hour the night before, disturbing people’s sleep and they still haven’t fixed it. I get it, mistakes happen, but when it keeps happening it reeks of incompetence.
8:30 till 9:15
At least it was earlier this time.
If there’s nobody on this island that knows what’s wrong and how to fix it, then if you’re the responsible party, then grit your teeth and bring in somebody from the Mainland or another country if that’s what it takes. It’s actually smart to know when you don’t know what you’re doing.
