The holiday season has been especially good for Straight No Chaser, the male a cappella group that performs at Blaisdell Concert Hall today.
The 10-man choir got its first big break when its whimsical performance of “The 12 Days of Christmas,” created when the singers were college students, was posted on Youtube. It caught the eye of a recording executive, leading to the album “Holiday Spirits,” a No. 1 seller on iTunes and Amazon in 2009
They’ve produced several more holiday-themed albums since then, as well as albums of tunes from movies, Broadway and pop. They all reflect a party spirit (as in partying, with spirits) with titles like “Six Pack,” “With a Twist” and “Under the Influence.”
The concert is at 7:30 p.m. today. Tickets are $29.50-$63.50, available via ticketmaster or at the door.
