The Honolulu Hawaii Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will present its 30th Annual Christmas Concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 17 and 18 at the Honolulu Tabernacle, 1560 S. Beretania St.
The free musical program is organized by Craig Young. Traditional carols and holiday songs by children, youth and adult choirs, and orchestral selections will be featured, under the direction of Young, Beth Uale and Lori Lomu.
Drill Team Hawaii, directed by Young and Febray Kaopua, will also perform. Special guest artists will include the Honolulu Handbell Ensemble, led by Anne Craig, and singers Tory Current, Christopher Lowe and Kristian Lei.
As an additional community service, a “giving tree” at the concerts will welcome voluntary donations to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
The adult choir consists of volunteers from the 10 wards/units (churches) of the Honolulu Stake and nonmembers who begin rehearsals in October and practice two to three times a week leading up to the program, a news release said. The orchestra has community and student musicians who give their time to perform.
