The Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation has donated $50,000 to Pacific Historic Parks in honor of the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Pacific Historic Parks, through its partnership with four National Park Service sites, helps secure funds for educational programs at NPS sites throughout the Pacific, including the USS Arizona Memorial.
Carolyn Kindle Betz, foundation vice president and executive director, said Enterprise Rent-A-Car has a close bond to the military community, going back to the company’s founding.
“My grandfather and our founder, Jack Taylor, named our company Enterprise as a salute to one of the World War II aircraft carriers on which he served — the USS Enterprise,” she said in a news release Wednesday. “So our support for this Pearl Harbor anniversary has special meaning for the entire Enterprise family, particularly since Jack died earlier this year.”
The company has been chosen as a top employer for veterans by several military publications.
Retired Adm. Thomas B. Fargo, the 75th Commemoration Committee chairman, said the committee was grateful for Enterprise’s generosity. “This donation will help us provide an opportunity for the remaining Pearl Harbor survivors and World War II veterans to come together and experience firsthand the appreciation of the American people for their sacrifices,” he said.
