The American Cancer Society invited businesses and organizations to honor cancer survivors statewide this week by decorating offices in purple and also dressing in the universal color for cancer survivors.
In addition, more than 20 local businesses joined the “Paint Hawaii Purple” campaign by making a commitment to donate a portion of sales from Tuesday through Nov. 13, the organization said in a news release. Visit facebook.com/ACSHawaii Pacific for participants on all islands. On Oahu they include:
Jugo Life Juice
Throughout November the company will donate $1 for every bottle of Cherish Juice sold at its locations in Kailua, Moiliili and downtown at Pioneer Plaza. Visit drinkjugolife.com.
Ward Villages IBM Building
Through Saturday the IBM Building at 1240 Ala Moana Blvd. will be lit up in purple.
Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center
Staff will wear purple throughout the week and sell luminaria bags for the cause.
Wet ‘n’ Wild Hawaii
The Kapolei water park will be decorated with purple, and will host a cancer information booth and fun activities on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Almost 4,000 residents took part in the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk Oct. 22 and raised nearly $185,000 at Keehi Lagoon Beach Park, the organization reported.
The walk was co-sponsored by Hawaii News Now, iHeart Media, Brett Hill Construction, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Hawaii USA Federal Credit Union, Hawaiian Electric Cos., AlohaCare, Avis Budget Car Rental, City Mill, Kaiser Permanente, the Cancer Center of Hawaii, Clinical Labs of Hawaii, Pali Momi Medical Center, GEICO and Cycle City Hawaii.
