Consolidated to open new Kapolei theaters

The ‘Olino movieplex in Kapolei, operated by Consolidated Theatres, gave a media tour of the new “luxury theater” today with a glimpse at the screens and treats available when it opens to the public on Oct. 21.
Consolidated is offering a free public preview of the theater on Wednesday, with a sold-out screening of “Top Gun.”
The premium theater is part of the new Ka Makana Alii shopping complex in Kapolei.
In addition to leather recliner seating, wall-to-wall screens, Dolby sound and a Titan screen, the venue will offer a full menu of casual fare that includes a chef-designed menu created by Food Network veterans Bruce Seidel and Chef Santos Loo. There are three varieties of burgers, including a cheeseburger topped with kimchi, togarashi seasoning and barbecue sauce, and four varieties of hot dogs, including a Banh Mi Style Dog topped with pickled vegetables, cilantro-lime aioli and fresh jalapenos.
Other edibles are being prepared by local vendors, including Hawaiian Pie Company and Macarons by Tiffany.
The theater also has an outdoor lanai with tables and seating for dining.

The new theater complex is Consolidated’s ninth on Oahu and its first new complex since 2001.

better food is always welcome but do we need more people munching and crunching while we’re trying to watch a movie?
I thought the same thing. Just went to the one in Kapolei Commons and I thought “Do I wanna be analyzing my food while the movie is going?”. If that wasn’t enough discouragement, five and six dollar cokes were. Good food prices but 6 bucks for a coke? Nope. Theaters would sell 100% more if they’d drop their refreshment prices a chunk. But what do I know? People were in line paying it.
People should go to a movie theater to see a movie and go to a restaurant to eat food. Now we have a bigger chance of finding spilled food on the seats, arm rests, and floors of the theater.
People still go to the Movies?………..what happened to the big 55″ screen TV at home?
