On Tuesday local entrepreneurs can get 15 minutes in the back seat of an Uber car to pitch a business idea to a potential investor.
Honolulu-based Sultan Ventures, a startup assistance program, said Friday that it will host a contest called UberPitch, which allows UH-affiliated entrepreneurs the opportunity to be a part of an upcoming cohort, or group of startups. Those on Oahu and Maui who are interested in participating can fill out an application by going to uberhawaii.typeform.com/to/gqo8Pj.
If the idea is selected, a promo code will be shared with the applicant Monday to unlock the UberPITCH view on the Uber mobile application so the user can locate their investor on Tuesday between noon and 4 p.m.
Riders will get 15 minutes to pitch their ideas and receive feedback from one of nine investors in Honolulu or one of three investors on Maui.
At the end of the day, Sultan Ventures will announce the top three pitches. The winners will receive mentoring; access to co-working space; advance to the final screening for Cohort 5 of XLR8UH, venture accelerator; and potential funding for their idea.
First place gets four hours of mentorship from Sultan Ventures, four weeks of free co-working space at Sultan Ventures offices, and advance to final screening for Cohort 5 of XLR8UH.
Second place gets two hours of mentorship from Sultan Ventures, two weeks of free co-working space at Sultan Ventures offices, and advance to Round 2 of screening for Cohort 5 of XLR8UH.
Third place gets one hour of mentorship from Sultan Ventures and one week of free co-working space at Sultan Ventures offices.
