Security camera images lead to arrest in Hawaii Kai burglary
Honolulu police arrested an 18-year-old Kuliouou man after he was identified on video surveillance entering a closed business and taking property in Hawaii Kai last month.
Police said security cameras captured images of the suspect during the burglary at about 9:30 p.m. On Aug. 31.
Police said the suspect was located and arrested on Sunday at 9:42 p.m. near the Hawaii Kai Shopping Center on Keahole Street on suspicion of second-degree burglary.
He was released pending further investigation.

Released pending investigation after video surveillance identified him breaking into a closed business and taking property…….Seriously?!….why not breaking and entering….burglary and theft charges…..what kind of detectives does HPD have anyways.?……..

Unless Kaneshiro and his incompetent DA mess the investigation, this guy may walk out free of charges…but then again our judicial system is a joke–he will get off easily.

Ok so where is the video and the name of this punk? Once “booked” the names of those arrested are matter of public record. So doesn’t the SA reporters know this? Just ask to see ” the books”.
I have a security camera trained on my vehicle out front of my apartment; one early morning about 4am while it was still dark out, my security camera which turns on when detecting motion showed this white young dude walking about several vehicles other than my truck checking to see if by chance the owners forgot to lock/secure their vehicles, with no success. He finally worked his way to my truck which is already equipped with a burglary alarm with blinking red lights, so without touching my truck he just tried peering into the windows looking for something of interest. Having an unsuccessful forage he just walked off into the night.
When I shared this footage with police in my community they pointed out that unless that guy actually broke into any of the vehicles they weren’t able to make an arrest.
I shared this footage with my apartment management team and soon after, they evicted this guy and his girl friend.
So security cameras work fine when you need them and most are pretty reasonable, cost wise.
Whooo Hooo! Victory for the good guys! Glad the manager was able to get rid of them.
