Foodland returns to Ala Moana Center today with its Foodland Farms concept featuring tons of ready-to-eat meals and made-to-order treats, as well as services exclusive to the new location.
The store is near Shirokiya’s Japan Village Walk, and customers dashing in for a quick shopping trip will have access to dozens of one-hour-only parking stalls in between the venues, accessible via the Piikoi Street ground-level entrance.
The new Foodland Farms represents “the next generation of Foodland,” said Jenai Wall, chairwoman and CEO of Foodland Super Market Ltd.
The location features a Coffee Bean &Tea Leaf shop, plus others food counters exclusive to this store. Those include HI Steaks, which serves steak plates with side dishes and a range of sauce options; freshly made minidoughnuts and a variety of flavors of large doughnuts; a shave ice station with signature flavors developed in partnership with Ono Pops, as well as traditional flavors; a Bubbies mochi ice cream stand; and a variety of sausages made in-house that will include Portuguese sausage, maple breakfast sausage and Calabrese sausage, said corporate chef Keoni Chang.
There’s more: a poke island that delivers poke rolls — nori encasing a thin layer of rice and thick center of fresh poke — as well as a range of sushi and musubi; a pizza station offering pies made to order (starting at $19.99 for a 16-inch pie); sauced-to-order grilled kebabs; a juice bar; a “chicken shack” offering rotisserie, pulehu (barbecue) or fried chicken with “shakers” of assorted flavors; and The Bar, by R. Field, offering wine, beer, charcuterie, cheese platters and other choices.
Chang referred to the store as a “grocer-
raunt,” given the vast in-store dining options and its food-hall vibe.
The store also will have a concierge and will-call service for shoppers who have other shopping to do at Ala Moana or whose cars are parked far away. Groceries will be stored in a chill room, then wheeled to customers who pull into designated stalls and call for their purchases to be brought out.
Following today’s grand opening at
10 a.m., Foodland Farms at Ala Moana will be open 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
