Couple accused of leaving toddler son to play ‘Pokemon Go’ in Arizona
SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. » An Arizona couple have been accused of leaving their 2-year-old son alone for up to 90 minutes to go play the “Pokemon Go” smartphone game, in a case that a local sheriff called “beyond comprehension.”
Brent Daley, 27, and Brianna Daley, 25, were arrested after a neighbor found the boy crying outside the couple’s home in a southeastern Phoenix suburb Thursday night, the Pinal County sheriff’s office said today.
The child was barefoot and wearing a diaper and a T-shirt, authorities said.
The couple initially told deputies they went to buy gas but then said they had gone in search of virtual Pokemon creatures in their neighborhood for about 90 minutes, the sheriff’s office said.
The Daleys have been accused of child neglect and child endangerment, and their son has been turned over to the state’s child-protection agency.
Sheriff Paul Babeu said his and other law enforcement agencies have warned people about personal safety while playing the smartphone game.

“But we never would have imagined that parents would abandon a child to play ‘Pokemon Go,’” he said. “This goes beyond comprehension.”
It was not known if the Daleys have attorneys who could comment on the allegations. There is no phone listing for their names, and they didn’t immediately respond to Facebook messages.

I agree that it is outrageous. The world of online fantasy and games has its odd, evil component.
Games are fine. Some players are idi0ts.
this particular game seems to be causing way more problems than any other I can recall
Like Tita Girl said – it’s not the game, it’s the people.
Trump supporters, no doubt.
What a dumb comment. I think they were Hillary supporters. This is a dumb comment too.
Nah, you just know they’re Trump supporters. Can feel it.
critical reader maybe, critical thinker no way. just another donkey on the SA troll train.
Aaaaah, c’mon! You know what their multi-pronged defense will be. This happened due to a combo of Islamic Extremism, the fact that America isn’t safe enough for a child to play in the yard, the over regulation of bureaucrats (now police), who should have been out making America safe (and GREAT again) from Islamic Extremists rather than bureaucratically regulating the play of a great American child, and the side note fact that the wife’s roots weren’t as well colored as Ivanka’s. Note also, the wife hasn’t said anything yet. But, that’s OK, because she’s clearly American. So, it’s her right not to speak.
When you dumb, you dumb…
Being dumb is so hard to fix. Glad their son was taken from them. They’re not fit to be parents.
I feel really bad for the child. He didn’t ask for these irresponsible parents. Hopefully there will be effective intervention so that child can have a more suitable set of parents. But how can you teach parents who lack common sense?
agree
Somebody more responsible needs to take care of this child. Hope the parents spend some time in jail.
Such a sad story. Why couldn’t they just take the baby with them? I’m hoping this turns out to be one of those prank stories about Pokemon Go.
Classic ghetto types. Reminds me of some of the downtown mainland transplant chronics.
Yes because no locals would ever so something that stupid. right.
Yes because no locals would ever so something like leaving their children unattended. right.
Third times a charm…..try one more time kailua000
Dumb and dumber trailer trash.
Definitely to young & immature to be parents.
Not sure what makes them more stupid…..leaving their child home for 2 hours while they hunt Pokemon, or telling police that they went hunting for Pokemon.
Sad that some people are so ridiculous. Also StarAdvertiser, just an FYI: the title should read Couple in Arizona accused of leaving toddler son to play ‘Pokemon Go’,instead of Couple accused of leaving toddler son to play ‘Pokemon Go’ in Arizona.
I had to read the headline twice to figure it out–I thought the toddler was playing the game????
