Lanai Tabura is back for a sixth season as host of “Cooking Hawaiian Style,” the celebrity-driven show inspired by home cooking and family traditions.
The season opened last week with actress Tia Carrere preparing her father’s recipes for chicken adobo, cascaron and lumpia. If you missed it, no worries, the show repeats Sept. 26.
Producer Frank Abraham said the program, which started as an online series of videos, now comprises 71 episodes.
“Our goal is to film that magic 100th episode,” Abraham said, which will probably take another three seasons, or 18 months.
The reach of the program continues to expand. Through various cable channels it is seen across the U.S. and in six countries. Shows start airing on Hawaiian Airlines flights in August.
This season’s episodes were filmed on the beach at Ko Olina. It airs on the Lifestyle network, channels 683 and 1683 on Oceanic Time Warner Cable, and on OC16.
The shows air first at 7:30 p.m. Mondays, repeating daily at different times until a new show debuts the following Monday. New episodes air through Sept. 19, then start over with the Carrere show.
