Diego Morales-Aquino, 50, of Las Vegas. Police say Morales-Aquino faces felony hit-and-run charges after the car he was driving hit another car and struck five people on a sidewalk, including a 6-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy who were critically injured.
LAS VEGAS >> Bail was set at $250,000 for a 50-year-old Las Vegas man charged with leaving the scene of a crash that police say came after his car ran a red light, hit another car, spun onto a sidewalk and struck five pedestrians.
A judge on Tuesday set a June 27 preliminary hearing for Diego Morales-Aquino, who remains jailed on felony hit-and-run charges that could get him decades in prison if he’s convicted.
Police say a 9-year-old boy has two broken legs and a collapsed lung, and a 6-year-old girl received a fractured spine and severe internal injuries in the Saturday evening crash in northwest Las Vegas.
A 7-year-old boy and two women, ages 64 and 39, were also struck on the sidewalk, but police say they received less serious injuries.
The 19-year-old driver of a second car that was struck at the intersection and his 18-year-old passenger were also treated for minor injuries.
