Clues sought in cemetery vandalism

Hawaii County police are asking for help to catch a vandal or vandals who knocked over grave monuments and smashed concrete vase holders at the Kapoho Zairyumin Kai Japanese Cemetery on Kapoho Lighthouse Road in April.

Police said the damage, estimated at $4,200, happened sometime between April 10 and 21, when a cemetery caretaker discovered the damage.

Police ask anyone with any information about this case to call officer Roberto Segobia at 965-2716 or the Police Department’s nonemergency line at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call CrimeStoppers at 961-8300.

Vendors can apply for Kauai’s Sunshine Market

Kauai County officials are accepting applications for vendors in its Sunshine Market program.

According to a county news release Monday, there are openings at the following markets:

>> Kalaheo Neighborhood Center, 3-4 p.m. Tuesdays

>> Kapaa New Town Park, 3-5 p.m. Wednesdays

>> Old Hanapepe Town Park, 3-4:30 p.m. Thursdays

>> Vidinha Stadium, 3-5 p.m. Fridays

>> Kekaha Neighborhood Center, 9-10 a.m. Saturdays

The administrative rules with details on eligibility can be accessed on the county website at kauai.gov/SunshineMarkets.
