Police and firefighters work to recover badly decomposed remains on Tantalus this afternoon.
Honolulu police suspect foul play was involved in the death of a person whose badly decomposed body that was found on a steep hillside on Tantalus this afternoon.
Honolulu police Lt. Phillip Lavarias said the body was found about noon by volunteers cleaning up the area.
He said the body was in the advanced stages of decomposition and the gender of the deceased was not determined.
Firefighters were called to the 3000 block of Tantalus Drive to assist police and the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s office with the recovery. He said the steep terrain and wet weather were slowing efforts.
Police have opened an unattended death investigation.
Emergency responders were still at the scene about 4:45 p.m.

Maybe. Lisa Au’s body was recovered not far from there.

Okay, let’s proceed with a wholly unnecessary explanation. Noah Montemayor is either alive or dead. If dead, then he met his demise either by accident, suicide or homicide. If suicide or homicide, then parts of Tantalus Drive remain nicely accessible and quiet places to kill yourself if contemplating suicide, or to dump a body if committing a homicide. Lisa Au’s body was successfully dumped there in the sense that her killer has remained free for over thirty years.
