Dane Nakama, known to friends as a local version of Clark Kent, might spend his days in the office, but he is a man of many talents and interests. The Kaimuki marketing executive is well versed as a food photographer, diver, bodysurfer, yogi, rock climber and ukulele and karaoke “rock star.”
Question: What is your must-have for work-related travel?
Answer: I like to wear business slacks from Lululemon (yes, they have business attire!) on long international flights. Not only do they look dressy, but they stretch and are very wearable. It makes it easy to look professional and be comfortable at the same time.
Q: How do you stay put together when running to and from meetings?
A: I do like aloha shirts. Reyn Spooner has a new line of modern alohawear that is fitted and very light. The fact that it’s cotton and short-sleeved helps with perspiration.
Q: With such a busy schedule, how do you find time to shop?
A: I shop during nonpeak hours. I don’t like to fight traffic or wait for parking, so I usually go in the mornings or after I finish a lunch meeting before I head back to the office. Having shops close to my office is helpful for me. Time is money!
Q: What sunscreen do you use when outdoors?
A: I currently have Kiss My Face Sun Spray in my bag. It doesn’t have oxybenzone, which is one of the first things I check for. (Oxybenzone is a common ingredient in some sunscreens that bleaches coral reefs.)
Q: What’s in your gym bag?
A: Climbing shoes and chalk, sports tape, a yoga mat and a towel.
