The Nude, champagne and blush-pink colors of Hollywood’s red carpet season signaled a romantic spring with a lingerie trend that had Beyonce on the Grammy red carpet in a Victorian-style wedding gown of sheer lace and tulle. At the Oscars, Olivia Munn appeared in a Grecian goddess gown and Rooney Mara showed up in dramatic peek-a-boo lace.

Chalk this up to today’s mobile telecommuting and freelance workforce. Those working from home really do have the option of wearing their jammies all day. As long as they’re not on Facetime, Skype or Periscope, who’s to know? But no one’s settling for flannel when silk or cotton chemises and bias-cut dresses in nightgown silhouettes offer an easy, comfortable sense of luxury.

Other big trends for women:

>> Spanish influence: You’ll see it in the return of fiery reds in day- and eveningwear and the presence of flamenco-style ruffles at hemlines and sleeves.

>> Make it mesh: What started as a breezy, breathable fabric limited to activewear for athletes crossed over to the streets and now permeates all levels of fashion and occasion, making this holiest of fabrics acceptable for office and date-night attire. Mesh has gone from basic black and screaming neon colors to chic, demure pastels.

>> Give ’em the cold shoulder: In Hawaii, there’s never been a shortage of bare shoulder or off-the-shoulder looks, but the modern cold shoulder is especially pretty and sexy with a cascade of fabric hanging from V-shaped halter-style necklines, giving dresses and tops the X factor, quite literally.

>> Fringe culture: So many bold fashion statements were made in the 1970s that we’re never far from their bohemian, hippie influence. There’s an abundance of suede, and where there’s suede there’s bound to be some fringe. Fringe shows up on purses, shoes and dangling from sleeves and every hemline imaginable. Plain Janes might opt to accessorize a plain top with a bib necklace of fringe. There’s no shortage of options for festival season. Pair your fringe with denim, the other comeback kid.

For men:

For once, what works for women also works for men. Suede abounds in outerwear departments, footwear and bags ranging from backpacks to messengers to briefcases.

>> Field jackets: The urban man has few opportunities to show off his manliness in the city, but he can at least feel like a swashbuckling adventurer in Indiana Jones mode in a utilitarian field jacket. Military inspired, in drab olive, brown or khaki, these jackets also are packed with pockets for every life-saving gadget, even if it’s just your phone and portable charger.

>> Straight-leg chinos: Given last summer’s health warning that wearing skinny jeans can damage muscles and nerves, you have every reason to make the switch to roomier trousers or chinos. Straight- and relaxed-leg pants will make you look stylishly casual rather than like you’re trying too hard.

>> Slip-on shoes: Loafers, boat shoes and other slip-ons pair up nicely with rolled-hem chinos while delivering a look of nonpareil nonchalance.
