Victim in fatal Big Isle shooting identified
The 56-year-old victim of a shooting in Kapoho has been identified as Bryan Lynn Thomas, Big Island police said today.
The medical examiner said Thomas died of gunshot wounds to the abdomen and chest.
A second-degree murder charge is still pending against a 72-year-old man, who was arrested at the scene of the fatal shooting Monday in the Kapoho Beach lots subdivision.
Police ask anyone with information about the shooting, which occurred shortly after 5 p.m. Monday, to call the police department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311 or contact Detective Dean Uyetake at 961-2379 or dean.uyetake@hawaiicounty.gov.

Anyone going after a 72 yr. old man with a baseball bat might be asking to get shot, especially if he went to the old man’s house with a bat looking for trouble. Perhaps the Police think he should have waited to get hit in the head with a bat before shooting him. Then it would be self defense.
