Sewage leak closes Maui Circuit Court
A sewage leak closed Hoapili Hale, the Maui Second Circuit Court building, in Wailuku today.
A spokeswoman for the state Judiciary said court sessions will be rescheduled and documents due in court today will be considered timely if filed by the close of business on Wednesday.
The building shut down at noon and maintenance crews shut off all water to the building, state Judiciary spokeswoman Tami Mori said in a news release.
Clean-up efforts are underway this afternoon.
The closure affects Hoapili Hale, but other Maui court offices including Lahaina and Hana District courts, Maui Drug Court, the Children’s Justice Center, probation offices and the Drivers Education office remain open.
Hoapili Hale is expected to reopen for business as usual on Wednesday.
