Hawaii island police investigating Hawaii Belt Highway thefts

Thieves over the weekend made off with $15,000 worth of tools and equipment from agricultural land along Hawaii island’s Hamakua coast.

Hawaii island police said an investigation is under way, and that between 1:30 p.m. Thursday and 7:30 a.m. Two Honda generators and other eqiupment and tools worth $15,000 were stolen from land along Hawaii Belt Highway (Route 19) at the 38-mile marker in the Kalopa area.

Anyone with informatin is asked to call police at 935-3311. Anonymous tips can be reported to the islands Crime Stoppers at 961-8300.
