A 19-year-old Kapolei man remained in custody Thursday after allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend, a police officer and a 60-year-old neighbor during an incident last week in Ewa Villages.
Joseph Williams-Garcia was indicted Wednesday on charges of first-degree terroristic threatening, kidnapping, second-degree theft, abuse of a family or household member and first-degree burglary.
He remained at the Oahu Community Correctional Center, unable to post $30,000 bail.
Police said the incident began at about 2:45 p.m. Dec. 3 when a 17-year-old girl broke up with Williams-Garcia, who responded by kicking her in the shin.
The girl told police Williams-Garcia then forced his way into her Ewa Villages home and followed her to her room, where he covered her face with a pillow and asked, “Do you want me to grab a knife and kill both of us?” a police affidavit filed in Honolulu District Court says.
She walked out of the room with Williams-Garcia, who threatened her by placing a knife to her face. Then she attempted to run out of a back door, but Williams- Garcia pulled the screaming teen back into the house, according to the affidavit.
He fled with her iPhone, and police found him a couple of hours later near the Kapolei Recreation Center.
During handcuffing, the suspect kicked an officer in the stomach and bit another officer on the hand. One of his friends joined police in trying to detain Williams- Garcia, the affidavit says.
Officers sprayed the teen with pepper spray, but he broke free. With a pair of handcuffs dangling from one arm, Williams-Garcia ran away, jumping over several residential walls. He entered a Kuipuakukui Street house through the back sliding door and punched the homeowner, police said.
Officers were able to apprehend Williams-Garcia in the home’s garage.
