Water main break clogs busy Kamehameha Highway intersection in Aiea

Board of Water Supply crews shut off a 12-inch water main that broke at the intersection of Kaonohi Street and Kamehameha Highway in Aiea.
Kamehameha Highway is down to one lane headed Ewa and two lanes in the town-bound direction and vehicles traveling makai must turn right at the Kaonohi Street intersection in Aiea as crews repair a 12-inch water main break.
The break happened at about 12:45 a.m. and left two Pearlridge restaurants — Anna Miller’s and Bravos — and the Westridge Center without water. A water wagon is being set up to provide an alternate source of water.
It’s not clear yet how long the repairs will last.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

Another of hundreds of daily examples of our crumbling infrastructure, government bureaucrats powerless to stop the increasing failures. More and more money wasted on our rail money pit followed by the educational and union retirement money pits. Wasteful spending is out of control, will only get worse.
It’s a good thing we’re spending untold BILLIONS of Dollars for “The Rail”, instead of infrastructure! Who needs infrastructure?
agree. The scam rail project was sold in dishonest fashion by Mufi as a make-work project in the Great Recession. Trouble is, many more local jobs would have been created on infrastructure improvements and repair. Many more. Now we are stuck with the scam but little money to fix crumbling infrastructure.
That’s the way the cookie crumbles.
Broken water mains, broken sewer lines, potholes everywhere, irregular trash pickup, schools in disrepair, empty City and State buildings, but…we have a train that nobody will be riding…???Good government at its best.
