Kalihi house fire found to be intentionally set
Fire investigators have determined that the fire that displaced a family of five in Kalihi Sunday night was intentionally set.
However, police have decided not to pursue the arson case because the family has withdrawn the criminal complaint.
The suspect was a 70-year-old man whom firefighters assisted out of the smoke-filled house.
Damage was estimated at $16,8000 to the building and $5,000 to its contents.
The fire was reported at 11:17 p.m. and brought under control by 22 firefighters at 11:24 p.m.
Fire investigators believe the fire started in the rear bedroom of a home on Rawlins Lane.
