Ex-officer sentenced to 30 months in assault of gambling house patrons

Former Honolulu police officer Vincent Morre was sentenced in federal court today to 30 months in prison for using his police authority to assault two men in an illegal gambling house.

Morre, 37, pleaded guilty in May to two counts of violating the constitutional rights of the men.

He has until Jan. 5 to turn himself in to begin serving his prison sentence.

Another former Honolulu police officer, Nelson Tamayori, and former reserve officer Joseph Becera, are scheduled to be sentenced later this month for failing to report the assaults.
