Man charged in spear theft from King Kamehameha statue in Hilo
Hawaii island police charged a former Oahu man Friday in connection with theft of the tip of a spear stolen from the King Kamehameha statue in Hilo on Tuesday.
William Roy Carroll III, 31, who has no permanent address, was charged Friday with second-degree theft, third-degree theft and second-degree criminal property damage. His bail was set at $11,000.
He remains the Hilo police cellblock pending his initial court appearance Monday.
