Hawaii island man charged with holding wife captive
Hawaii County police charged a 41-year-old Volcano man with various crimes after he held his wife captive inside their home while armed with a firearm.
Police said Ben L. Domingo and his wife were arguing Friday evening, and it escalated into a standoff.
The police Special Response Team responded while the Crisis Negotiation Team communicated with the occupants of the house throughout the night and into Saturday morning.
Police evacuated nearby homes, but no major road closures occurred during the standoff.
The negotiators managed to de-escalate the situation and arrested Domingo.
Domingo was charged with four counts of first-degree terroristic threatening, a misdemeanor count of violation of a protective order, two counts of prohibited ownership of a weapon and one count of kidnapping.
