Missing Kalihi suspect in fatal Oahu hit-and-run arrested in Hilo
Deputy sheriffs Friday on Hawaii island arrested a 40-year-old Kalihi woman who has been missing for three weeks after she was indicted in the hit-and-run crash that killed 25-year-old motorcyclist Keith Jantoc of Mililani in April.
Department of Public Safety said Chantel Andrade was arrested at 9 a.m. in Hilo.
Deputy sheriffs will transport her to Oahu Friday to be processed.
Andrade will be charged with causing an accident involving death or serious bodily injury and driving without a license. In addition, she has one criminal misdemeanor bench warrant and seven traffic misdemeanor bench warrants.
If Andrade can’t post bail, she will eventually be taken to the Oahu Community Correctional Center to await her next court appearance.
Andrade was initially arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder, was indicted July 14 by an Oahu grand jury on charges of fleeing the scene of a fatal crash and driving without a license.
