LAS VEGAS >> A Las Vegas casino says its burgled “blarney stone” is back after a down-on-his-luck gambler took it from its perch at 2:31 a.m. Wednesday and remorsefully returned it around 1:30 a.m. Thursday. That’s after the casino’s owner took to social media to shame the rock robber into returning it.

The whole stone-napping from start to finish took less than 24 hours and involved a personal plea from Derek Stevens, owner of the D Las Vegas on Fremont Street, hours after it was stolen.

The rock is a relic from when the casino was the Irish-themed Fitzgerald’s.

The casino didn’t file a police report but circulated surveillance footage online and on local television stations showing the man carrying it out the door.

Stevens says he doesn’t plan to press charges.
