A 42-year-old police officer was injured in a two-car crash that involved a police car Tuesday afternoon at Likelike and Kamehameha highways in Kaneohe.
Police said two Honolulu Police Department officers were responding to an auto break-in when their marked police vehicle was struck by another vehicle.
The officers were heading toward Kailua on Kamehameha Highway. The police vehicle’s blue light and siren were activated when they entered the intersection on a red light, police said in an email.
A sport utility vehicle, heading makai on Likelike Highway, entered the intersection on a green light and struck the police vehicle.
Paramedics responded to the scene of the crash, which occurred at 12:25 p.m. They treated the patient and transported him in serious condition to a hospital, according to an Emergency Medical Services report. No other injuries were reported.
Collision that hurt bicyclist is investigated
Honolulu police have opened a traffic investigation after the condition of a bicyclist hit by a vehicle in Aiea was downgraded to critical.
Police said Tuesday the man was initially taken in serious condition to a hospital following the accident on Pono Street at 11 p.m. Friday.
Police said the bicyclist was traveling east on Pono Street when he was struck near the Moanalua Road intersection by a vehicle driven by an Aiea man.
His condition worsened in the hospital. The bicyclist was not wearing a helmet, police said.
Boyfriend’s stabbing puts woman in jail
A 34-year-old woman is in police custody after she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend during an argument Monday night in Kailua.
Police said the 35-year-old victim was taken in serious condition to a hospital after an argument at 9:35 p.m. in the couple’s North Kalaheo Avenue home.
Police arrested the woman on suspicion of second-degree assault.
City IDs victim of scuba diving accident
The city Medical Examiner’s Office on Tuesday identified a man who died after running into trouble while scuba diving at Shark’s Cove on Sunday as Kenneth Cherry, 27, of Honolulu.
Witnesses pulled Cherry out of the water at about 10 a.m. Sunday and performed CPR. Paramedics took him in critical condition to a hospital, where he died.
