Moped accident in Kalihi sends boy to hospital
A moped accident in Kalihi left a 15-year-old boy in critical condition Wednesday night.
Police said the accident happened at 7:40 p.m. at the intersection of North King and Umi streets.
A delivery truck, driven by a Wahiawa man, turned makai on Umi Street from North King Street into the path of the moped, which was traveling Koko Head on North King Street, police said.
The boy was ejected from the moped. He was not wearing a helmet, police said.
Paramedics initially took the boy to the hospital in serious condition. But his condition worsened to critical, police said.
