BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio » An Ohio man who authorities say told officers he used a plastic wand from window blinds as a switch on his 5-year-old son has been charged with murder in the boy’s death.

Twenty-four-year-old Anthony Barton of Bellefontaine (behl-FOWN’-tihn) was charged Friday after being charged days earlier with felony child endangering.

Barton’s son Michael died at a hospital Wednesday, two days after Barton’s girlfriend called 911 to report the boy wasn’t breathing.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that preliminary autopsy results show the boy received multiple blows to the head, causing his brain to bleed.

Barton remained in the Logan County jail Saturday on $1 million bond. It’s not clear if he has an attorney.
