A pilot cited twice for violating the city’s ban on aerial advertising pleaded no contest Tuesday in Wahiawa District Court, according to the City Prosecutor’s Office.

Matthew Radeck was given six-month deferrals on both charges and ordered to pay fines of $100 for the first offense and $200 for the second, according to a press release.

Deputy Prosecutor Derrick Wong had asked Judge Clarence Pacarro to impose the maximum $500 fine for the first offense and the maximum three months in jail for the second offense.  

Radeck had been hired by Aerial Banners North, and both he and the company were scheduled for trial on April 30. The company’s attorney said it needed time to file for an injunction in federal court and asked for a 30-day continuance.

The trial was removed from the court calendar and a status hearing set for May 7.
