A charred mountainside remained as Honolulu Firefighters worked to subdue a brush fire on the ridge above the University of Hawaii Waahila Faculty Housing facility on Dole Street on the afternoon of Wednesday, February 25, 2014 in the Manoa section of Honolulu.

Honolulu fire personnel have contained a brush fire near the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

Honolulu Fire Department Capt. David Jenkins said the one- to two-acre fire, which was above the UH faculty housing near the water tanks, did not threaten any structures. It was contained at 3:25 p.m. Wednesday.

The fire was reported at 1:28 p.m. and the first company arrived at 1:37 p.m.

Eight companies, including Air 1 responded to the blaze.

Jenkins said the call came from the UH Hawaiian Studies Department on Dole Street.

HFD investigators have not yet determined a cause.
