NORWALK, Calif. >> Authorities are searching for the driver of a party bus that struck a pedestrian in California and dragged the man for more than 200 feet, leaving him seriously injured.

KABC-TV reports that 26-year-old Efren Virgen was hit early Saturday while walking home in Norwalk, near Los Angeles.

A witness told investigators he saw neon lights flashing and heard music playing from inside the bus as it drove away.

Sheriff’s Detective Carl Anna says witnesses reported that the driver may have swerved to avoid Virgen but ended up hitting him.

KABC says Virgen is in critical condition and breathing on his own Monday after being on a ventilator. He has two young daughters.
