Man arrested on drug, weapons charges after Hilo raid
Hawaii County police have charged a 31-year-old man with multiple drug and firearms charges following a search of the man’s home in Hilo on Friday.
Police executing a search warrant for the Waiakea Uka home recovered 7.75 pounds of crystal methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, an unregistered handgun, two unregistered rifles and $5,700 in cash.
Richard Frias of Mountain View was charged Saturday with first-degree meth trafficking, possession of drug paraphernalia and three weapons offenses. His aggregate bail was set at $1 million.
Two other men were also arrested at the scene.
Christopher Mae, 32, of Hilo, was charged with contempt of court for an unrelated bench warrant and released on Sunday after posting $1,500 bail.
The other suspect, a 35-year-old Hilo man, was released pending further investigation.
