What no rain? Punahou Carnival weekend looks sunny
Aside from a few light showers from a weak system passing over Oahu around lunchtime, the weather looks to be mostly dry during the Punahou Carnival weekend on Oahu.
“Chances are it’s going to be fairly sunny,” said Derek Wroe, a meteorogist with the Honolulu office of the National Weather Service. “We expect northwest winds to be fairly dry tonight and dry conditions tomorrow.”
The forecast for Honolulu, including Manoa and the south shores of Oahu, calls for mostly clear skies Friday night with cool low temperatures in the 60s and northwest winds of 10 mph. Saturday should see sunny skies and light northwest winds with highs between 78 and 84 degrees.
The forecast calls for similar weather for the rest of the state.
For those going to the beach instead of the carnival, a high surf advisory remains in effect until 6 a.m. Sunday for northand west shores of Kauai County, Oahu and Molokai, and for north shores on Maui.
Surf of 12 to 16 feet Friday will be reinforced by another swell arriving Saturday. West shores coud see wave heights of 8 to 12 feet.
