President Barack Obama soaked up some sun on the second day in a row Sunday on his two-week-long vacation on Oahu.
Obama ventured from his vacation rental home in Kailua to spend the day at the beach and the golf course before ending the evening at Morimoto in Waikiki for dinner with friends.
According to press pool reports, the day’s activities began when Obama left the Kailua luxury rental where he and the rest of the first family are staying at 10:18 a.m. Sunday for the Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course at Marine Corps Base Hawaii.
Joining Obama at the course were Joe Paulsen, Preston Heard and Bobby Titcomb.
After less than three hours of golf, the motorcade pulled into Bellows Air Force Station where some onlookers waved and took pictures.
The family proceeded to Bellows Beach before returning to Kailua at about 3:30 p.m.
The first family arrived in Hawaii late Friday night, with Air Force One touching down at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.
They are expected to remain in Hawaii, where the Obamas have traditionally spent Christmas vacation, for 17 days.
His stay brings occasional road closures for the president’s motorcade and intensive security in the Kailua beachfront neighborhood where the Obamas stay.
The Coast Guard is again enforcing a temporary security zone in the ocean off Kailua Bay during this visit. The security zone is in effect until 10 p.m. Jan. 5.
