Police are looking for a second man who may have been involved in the beating death of a 33-year-old man and assault on a 38-year-old woman Tuesday morning in Aliamanu.
The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office on Wednesday identified the man killed as Jesse Waikiki, and determined he died of blunt force injuries to the face.
Police arrested the first suspect, a 41-year-old Salt Lake man, on suspicion of second-degree murder and assault following the 5 a.m. incident on Salt Lake Boulevard between Likini Place and Wanaka Street.
Police would not say how the second suspect was involved in the assaults.
No charges had been filed as of Wednesday evening against the first suspect.
Paramedics took Waikiki in critical condition with facial injuries to the hospital, where he died. A 38-year-old woman also was hospitalized in serious condition with head injuries.
Police said both the man and woman suffered blunt force injuries. Police said the weapon may have been a metal object.
Police said the incident began as an argument in a home on Salt Lake Boulevard and spilled into the street, where the man and woman were found.
Neighbors said the suspect is the former boyfriend of the woman.
Waikiki had four felony convictions from 2003 and 2004, including auto theft, unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia, and assault in 2000.
