Man 72, in critical condition after near-drowning in Waikiki
An off-duty lifeguard and a bystander pulled an unconscious 72-year-old man from waters fronting the Royal Hawaiian Hotel Wednesday morning.
According to an Emergency Medical Services report, the victim was found unresponsive in knee-deep water at about 10 a.m.
The off-duty lifeguard and bystander began CPR on the man until lifeguards took over.
The victim had a pulse and was breathing when paramedics arrived and took over treatment. They took him to a hospital in critical condition.
