Big Island man changes plea in murder case
HILO >> A 21-year-old Kurtistown man has changed his plea in the death of a Hawaiian Acres man in 2012.
The Hawaii Tribune-Herald reports Kawena Krause on Monday pleaded no contest to second-degree murder in the death of 44-year-old Dante Peter Gilman.
Krause’s cousin, 32-year-old Claude Keone Krause, is scheduled for trial in the case Nov. 3.
Prosecutors say the cousins on Dec. 28, 2012, killed Gilman at his home.
Police say video footage from a surveillance system showed Claude Krause pointing a rifle at Gilman and Kawena Krause choking him until he stopped moving.
A plea agreement calls for Kawena Krause to be sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole.
