Hawaii health officials warn public about spill in stream
Hawaii state health officials are warning the public about a wastewater spill at Pukele Stream on Oahu.
Officials said late Tuesday that a private contractor working on La’i Road discovered a cracked pipe that was discharging the wastewater into the stream.
According to officials, the contractor cleared the 10-inch line and maintained most of the flow through the pipe.
An estimated 860 gallons of wastewater was discharged.
Honolulu officials were notified about the incident and a city crew was working on repairs Tuesday night.
Officials advise the public to stay out of Pukele and Palolo streams to Date Street Bridge.
