Carole Kai Onouye of "Hawaii Stars" is presenting a half-hour special, "How Do YOU Remember Vietnam?" at 8 p.m. Tuesday on KHON2. It was written by Bob Jones, who covered the war for The Honolulu Advertiser and NBC News and was wounded by friendly fire. THE 12TH ANNUAL Taste of Kick Start will get underway at 4 p.m. Aug. 31 and run until 8 p.m. at Hawaii Kai Towne Center near Costco. Kick Start is a program providing activities to combat juvenile delinquency and youth gangs. It provides academic programs and character development through martial arts. Kick Start is spearheaded by former Police Chief Lee Donohue. There will be plenty of "good eats," as there are every year at the fundraiser. Food and drinks will be provided by Alan Wong’s, Roy’s, Tiki’s, Tanioka’s, Maile’s Bistro, Budweiser, Johnson Brothers and Pepsi. There will be a silent auction and entertainment. Tickets are $200. SINCE CLOSING Mellow’s Antiques last year, Laura Mellow has been working on furthering her artistic talents. Earlier this year she had several pieces exhibited at the Association of Hawaii Artists’ 44th Annual Aloha Show at Honolulu Hale. In October her pieces will be part of the "Hidden Truths: Minds Unraveled" juried art show at the DAX gallery in Costa Mesa, Calif. The show is a fundraiser for the Epilepsy Foundation of America and the Hidden Truth Project, and features an international array of artists. IN CELEBRATION of its 50th anniversary, Benihana of Tokyo is sending the Beni Girls on a worldwide dance tour. The tour is taking them to Benihana locations in Hawaii, London, Dubai and New Delhi.
The hip-hop duo is scheduled to perform Monday through July 19 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Tapa Bar at 1 and 6 p.m. and in front of the restaurant at 7:30 p.m. Performances are open to the public …
