Vegas begins 10-digit calls ahead of new 725 area code
LAS VEGAS >> Dialing your neighbor in Las Vegas?
It now take 10 digits to make a local call.
Telephone callers in and around Sin City are learning to punch the 702 area code in to all local phone calls.
The move was approved months ago by the Nevada Public Service Commission to make way for callers in the Las Vegas area to begin next month to use a new 725 area code.
Directory assistance is still 4-1-1. Emergency calls are still 9-1-1.
The 725 area code will co-exist as an “overlay” with 702.
