The ideas keep rolling along, this time quite literally for Bob McGee, formerly of The Whole Ox Deli. His latest project is Meatball, no explanation needed. The little eatery at 845 Kapahulu Ave. (formerly home to Mac Nut House) specializes in meatballs of beef, pork, chicken, vegetables and seafood, with an assembly line approach: Pick your type of meatball; pick your sauce; customize with a helping of pasta, risotto, polenta, fries, rice or greens; or get them in a hoagie or slider.
A basic three balls and sauce combo served with garlic butter toast is $8.50; add $3 to customize. A hoagie with your choice of provolone, Parmesan or mozzarella runs $11.25.
You’ll also find small plates of calamari ($8.50), house wings ($8), fried eggplant ($6.50) and crinkle-cut fries ($4.50). Novelty chasers will love finding the Canadian invention poutine ($6.50) here; that bed of fries and gravy can also be topped with meatballs ($3).
