Other suspect in Iolani Palace vandalism arrested

A glass pane broken last month at ‘Iolani Palace was an original in the Ewa set of doors on the makai side.

One of the two suspects accused of vandalizing Iolani Palace in February was arrested on Saturday for violating park hours at Ala Moana Park.

The 30-year-man, who gave police no local address, was not charged with smashing a glass door at Iolani Palace on Feb. 8.

An Oahu grand jury indicted other suspect, Drew Paahao, 21, for first degree criminal property damage and burglary on April 10.

Paahao and the 30-year-old man were seen on surveillance video walking through the Grand Hall of Iolani Palace after allegedly breaking and smashing a 130-year-old glass door.

Palace security staff located and apprehended the two suspects.

They were released shorty after their arrest, pending further investigation.
