Union plans picketing at downtown Vegas casinos
LAS VEGAS >> Union members plan to picket in downtown Las Vegas this weekend to draw attention to ongoing contract talks.
A Culinary Union Local 226 statement says Saturday demonstrations near The D and Four Queens will include food service workers and bartenders from those properties and 10 others.
Contracts expired last June, and union members voted in February to end a contract extension.
Members voted March 27 to authorize a strike if no agreement is reached.
Culinary and bartender unions have new five-year deals with most large Las Vegas casino operators.
Talks continue with the Binion’s, El Cortez, Four Queens, Fremont, Golden Gate, Golden Nugget, Las Vegas Club, Las Vegas Plaza, Main Street Station and The D, Margaritaville on the Strip, and union workers at Brady Laundries in North Las Vegas.
