Man who died after jumping from Spitting Caves identified
The Medical Examiner’s Office has identified a 19-year-old Pearl City man who died after he jumped off a ledge at the Spitting Caves area near Maunalua Bay as Gregory Spillman.
Cause of death was deferred pending further tests.
Spillman died Saturday at the hospital, where he was taken in critical condition after he was swept out to sea by a strong current after jumping from a ledge.
Lifeguards found the man about 10 to 12 feet underwater. They used a rescue watercraft to bring Spillman to Koko Marina.
