Hawaii County authorities charged two men suspected of burglarizing a Hilo home on Thursday.

Officers responded 12:15 p.m. Thursday to a report of an active burglary on Likelike Street, but the suspects had fled on foot.

Police said the suspects broke into the house and took jewelry, cash and a smart tablet, valued at a total estimate of $6,675.

Police arrested Ethan Legaspi, 23, of Hilo, in connection with the burglary.

Officers continued their investigation and learned the identity of the two other men involved.

Police on Friday arrested Kawika Larinaga-Napihaa, 23, of Hilo, on suspicion of burglary and an outstanding bench warrant for criminal contempt of court. He was charged Saturday with one count of burglary and one count of theft. 

His bail was set at $25,000, and was also being held in lieu of $750 bail for his bench warrant.

After consulting with prosecutors, police charged Legaspi with one count of burglary and one count of theft. His bail was set at $26,000.

Officers also arrested a 23-year-old Hilo man in connection with the burglary, but he was released pending investigation.
