H-1 Rehab Project time change starts Monday
Lanes will be closed for an extra 30 minutes while crews work on the H-1 Freeway Rehabilitation Project starting Monday.
The new work hours will be from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday nights through Friday mornings.
The extra time is to maximize work time in order to stay on schedule, according to the state Department of Transportation.
Two lanes will be closed at night in both directions of the freeway from Likelike Highway to Ward Avenue, leaving one "shifting" lane for drivers.
Following the nightly lane closures, the cones will be removed by 5 a.m. daily and traffic patterns will return to normal. These nightly lane shifts will continue as necessary for several months.
During the day, shoulder work continues between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays. No lanes are closed during the day.

The H-1 Rehabilitation project will upgrade the freeway asphalt to provide a smooth riding surface, install upgraded lighting, improve drainage, and install glare screens along the median.
The DOT advises drivers in both directions to use Vineyard Boulevard as an alternate route. For more information, check the project website at H1rehab.com.
